Big Bang Art Auction Tonight!

Tonight at 7pm at the Big Bang is the first ever art auction - featuring 12 works by 12 local artists. Come at 6pm for a meal, preview, glass of wine and a program for only £10! See the website for details.

     Write, Draw Dinosaur! performed by John Foster and Korky Paul is at the Jacqueline du Pre Music Building at 2:30pm and 5pm. Bring the kids!

     The University Church Choir performs a Midsummer Music Concert in aid of Family Links at The Vaults Cafe (St Mary's Church) at 6pm.

     The Oxford Harmonic Society performs Vivaldi: Gloria & Dixit Dominus at the Sheldonian Theatre at 7:30pm.

Twaddle, Babble, Jabber and Pap - In the Realm of Tales, the Storyboard Commission has discovered that the popularity ratings of stories being read to children in ‘sector 4’ has hit an all time low - it may have something to do with the Fairy Godmother’s tongue piercing and Little Red Riding Hood’s new green hair, or then again it could just be the introduction of the new post millennium edition X Box….who can say. Agents Twaddle, Babble, Jabber and Pap are dispatched to find out what’s going on. They discover things are much more serious than they could ever have imagined. The Lakehouse PosterOpening this week is The Lake House, starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. When a woman starts exchanging love letters with the man who's moved into the lakeside home she used to live in, they fall in love but soon realise they’re actually living two years apart. The film contains mild language and an accident scene, is certified PG, and runs 98 minutes.


Barley PosterAlso opening this week is The Wind That Shakes The Barley, starring Cillian Murphy, Liam Cunningham, and Padraic Delaney. Winner of this year's prestigious Palm d'Or at Cannes, the film tells the story of a bitter civil war erupting in early 20th century Ireland after a guerrilla struggle against a crack British unit. The film contains strong language and violence, runs 126 minutes, and is certified 15.


Over the Hedge PosterReleased on the weekend is the animated Over The Hedge, with voices from Bruce WIllis, Garry Shandling, and Steve Carrell. This animated tale follows a bunch of woodland friends as they wake from hibernation to find a large green hedge. Beyond it, live humans. And they soon learn how to exploit them. This film contains mild slapstick, is certified U, and runs 83 minutes.


Aquamarine PosterFinally, at the Vue cinema this week is Aquamarine - the story of Claire and Hailey, two 13-year-old best friends who embark on the adventure of their lives when they discover a mermaid named Aquamarine in a swimming pool. The film is certified PG, runs 1 hour 43 minutes, and contains mild language and sex references.
