Paul and Nick at the Big Bang At Freud this week, you can catch Alex Hawkins on the Jazz Piano, Neil Mason on the Spanish Guitar, and the Karl Demata Blues Duo; The Bullingdon Arms has the Robin Bibi Band from the UK on their famous Monday Blues night and Live Jazz with the Tom Grey Quintet; Mornington Lockett plays the sax at the Spin at the Wheatsheaf; The Old Parsonage has Graham Bleddon (sax) and Tim Dawes (dbl bass) with Frank Harrison (Piano); Gee's Restaurant has Victoria Newton with Tim Lapthorn (piano) and Tim Dawes (dbl bss); The Big Bang Restaurant has 'BLUES for PABLO' (Nik Gibson, gtr & vcls & Paul Jefferies, bass); and Bar Milano (Pizza Express) has Neil Mason.

This Week's Classical Music (July 14 - 20)

Charivari AgreableSummer is a wonderful time for music in Oxford and nearby. This week, the University Church of St Mary is hosting the Cherwell Singers, who will be performing Music for an English Coronation; Christ Church Cathedral has a performance from the Oxford Pro Musica Singers; Magdalen College Auditorium is this week's location for Sunday's Coffee Concert with the Heath String Quartet; Wadham College Chapel has the wonderfully talented Jack Gibbons playing Beethoven; The Sheldonian Theatre will host the Amadeus Orchestra performing Romeo and Juliet, and finally, Exeter College Chapel will host Charivari Agreable three nights this week, performing A Sweet Concord of Winds, Mozart's English Muses, and Vivaldi: Stabat Mater & Nisi Dominus.

What's in the Theatre this week? (July 14-20)

Taming of the ShrewTake advantage of the warm weather and the long summer days and book tickets to Macbeth at the Headington Hill Park, The Merchant of Venice at the Oxford Castle, The Tempest at the Trinity College gardens, or The Taming of the Shrew or The Importance of Being Earnest at the Wadham College gardens. Also showing this week: The Oxford Playhouse is running The Constant Prince; The Old Fire Station is showing Disco Inferno; The New Theatre is showing Dancing in the Streets and Horrible Histories; The Pegasus Theatre is running Jamboree - Food for Thought; and finally, The Theatre at Headington has the Oxford Gospel Choir Charity Concert.

What's in the Cinema this week? (July 14-20)

Superman Poster Opening this week is latest installment in the franchise: Superman Returns. After years away, Superman comes back to find a world no longer needing a hero. But Lex Luther's evil scheme gives him a shot at redemption and reclaiming the heart of Lois Lane. The film stars Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey.
