This week we've got something for (almost) everybody at the cinema. First up is the movie Beerfest, which is about two American brothers who travel to germany to scatter their grandfather's ashes at Oktoberfest and discover a secret underground beer drinking competition. They get a team together to defend their – and their country's – honour. Certified 15, the film contains moderate sex, language and soft drug use.
Next is the movie Little Miss Sunshine, starring Greg Kinnear and Toni Collete as parents to the adorable Abigail Breslin. This film is about a family of six who embark on a road trip across America in a camper van so their 7 year-old girl can fulfil her dream of taking part in the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. Certified 15, the film contains strong language and drug use. It may look like a kids film, but we think you should reserve this one for the older kids or teens in the family.
Fans of thrillers may be interested in the opening of Pulse, starring Kristen Bell and Ian Somerhalder (of Lost fame). When their computer hacker friend accidentally channels a mysterious wireless signal, a group of co-eds rally to stop a terrifying evil from taking over the world. The film is certified 15 and contains sustained horror and strong language
Also opening this week is the independent film Right At Your Door. This film is about a dirty bomb which is detonated in Los Angeles. Fear, panic and confusion spread throughout the city as roads are closed and phone reception proves unpredictable. The film is certified 15 and contains strong language.
Lastly, being released next Thursday, September 14th, is the new comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Starring Will Ferrell, the film follows a lovable, but ridiculous NASCAR champion who's under threat from two new formidable opponents: his father, and an openly gay French driver played by Sacha Baron Cohen. The film is certified 12A.
