The Magdalen Arms on Iffley Road does pub food like nowhere else in Oxford. Whilst it is a bit of a trek from the centre, the food is completely worth it. This pub is best enjoyed with company as the big selling point is its sharing platters. In particular, this pub does a slow cooked neck of lamb and potato dauphinoise that would turn even the strictest of vegans! If you’re not a meat eater, they normally have some quite good veggie options on the menu and not the normal cheddar cheese and mushroom monstrosities that most vegetarians are faced with when eating out!

The success of the original shop left no other option but to expand the G&D’s joy further into the town. George and Danver opened in 2001 on the corner of Pembroke St. and St. Aldates and became enormously busy serving students, tourists, and locals alike. This expansion to the company also saw an expansion in size and seating space. Larger than the original parlour, the basement area of the shop can be used for private parties and events as well as housing the company’s bakery. Like the ice cream, our homemade bakery products are freshly made daily and cycled from shop to shop.The summer is perhaps the most exciting time for George and Danver as we have our ice cream bike stationed outside, next to the outdoor seating area. This allows our customers to enjoy the G&D’s experience in the heat of the British summer sun! During term-time, Geroge and Danver runs a “rowing” competition with Oxford University students; their college “boats” are displayed above the counter area.

The Ashmolean Dining Room in the scholarly heart of Oxford is a thrilling glass box set atop the recently-transformed Ashmolean Museum with the skyline of dreaming spires for company. As a commercial restaurant, Brookes Restaurant is amongst the finest in Oxford. The modern, spacious restaurant won a design award in 1999 and is as suitable for an intimate dinner as it is for a large corporate lunch or private party. As a teaching resource, the restaurant provides hospitality management students in the Oxford Brookes University Business School with state of the art facilities. Students get the opportunity to learn, develop and demonstrate their kitchen and restaurant skills. Brookes Restaurant operates Monday to Friday lunch time from 12 noon until 1.30 pm. Brookes Restaurant is on the University's Gipsy Lane campus, facing directly onto Gipsy Lane. Gipsy Lane is off the London Road, about a mile and a half from Oxford city centre and about half a mile before you reach Headington.
